New Member Guidelines Sponsor Guidelines

Membership Requirements From the Bylaws:

An active member shall be a permanent resident of St. Simons Island or Sea Island interested in gardening and related subjects. To maintain active standing, she shall be required to attend meetings regularly, actively participate on a committee and financially support the Club’s annual fundraiser. Maximum active membership shall be limited to 90, associate and life members are not included in this count.

Proposals for membership shall be made on a form furnished by the Membership Chairman. Applicants shall be sponsored by one active member and endorsed by another. Those applying shall have attended at least two open meetings of the garden club prior to recommendation for approval. (See Standing Rules for additional detail.) Both sponsor and endorser shall have known the candidate for at least one year.

Members may propose or endorse only one candidate for membership in any club year.

New members shall be required to serve on at least one committee and support the annual fundraiser financially and by active participation. (See Standing Rules for additional detail.) The sponsor shall bring the new member to orientation and shall be responsible for new member involvement throughout the year.

Names of candidates may be placed on a waiting list if active membership is at the Club limit.

Other questions concerning membership shall be at the discretion of the Board.
